Major Contributions
Working at a web development and design agency for 5 years, I was fortunate to work on projects for clients from a diverse list of industries. Whether it was education, engineering, cosmetics, NGOs tackling global poverty, or organizations dedicated to curing cancer, I thoroughly enjoyed getting to be a part of each and every one of these projects. I contributed a significant amount of production code to all of these sites and apps, and lead development on some of them.

- Highlights
- This was the first project I worked on as a brand new software developer, and I got to help see it through many iterations over the years, including a mobile app. I was also given audit reports from the Kenvue team in Canada (where there are stricter web accessibility standards) whenever small remediations were needed.

- Year
- 2024
- Stack
- Astro, React components, Storybook for component development and testing, Google charts for data visualization, Netlify CMS
- Role
- Planner, Lead Developer
- Highlights
- It's a great feeling when a client you've worked with in the past wants to work with you again! I used Google Charts for the first time on this project to create data visualizations for the client's research survey results. It was very challenging, but I can learn to do anything, and the result was that much more rewarding.

- Year
- 2023
- Stack
- Astro, React components, Contentful CMS
- Role
- Planner, Lead Developer
- Highlights
- This was the first project I took the lead on. Once the design was finalized, the reigns were handed over to me for creating the development plan. I lead development, acting as project manager for the dev team and doing code reviews. Being a relatively small site, this was the perfect first go at being lead developer.

- Stack
- Astro, React components, Storybook for component development and testing, Sanity CMS
- Role
- Planner, Lead Developer
- Highlights
- Right after I joined Grafton Studio in 2020, we launched a new “temporary” single-page site. Three years later, we finally had time to build ourselves a proper site! After proving myself on the Kinetic Demolition project, I was tapped again as lead developer. I took it as a huge vote of confidence that the whole team entrusted me with that responsibility for our company's own website. This was also my first time exploring Sanity CMS, and I loved it so much!

- Web app
- URL

- Year
- 2021 - 2024
- Stack
- Web Components, MongoDB, Python
- Role
- Developer, Accessibility specialists
- Highlights
- This was the second project of my professional developer career, and I got to revisit it last year for accessibility remediations. The client had a very exciting opportunity to partner with a public university where this app would be used in classrooms. I was given an accessibility audit report done by a third party, did all the necessary remediation to get the app compliant with Section 508, and drafted a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template for the client. My remediation work was essential to their ability to sign a lucrative deal with the university. It was so fulfilling to do this work knowing it would improve the experience of using the app for all of the students. It was also very cool to see how much I had learned about web accessibility in the 3 years since the app was first launched!

- This might be an unpopular opinion, but I really like working with templating languages! Dr. Joe Coughlin is also an absolute delight of a person. I mean, just check out his incredible bow tie collection!

- Stack
- 11ty (Eleventy), Nunjucks, Netlify CMS
- Role

- Highlights
- This project involved recreating an old archived site with important research for the Agelab. The original version of the site was composed largely of images and graphics as data visualizations, with no accessible alternative. Navigating the site with a screen reader felt like surfing mostly empty pages. I created markdown fields in the client's existing CMS so that I could organize all of the text and data from the image graphics into tables. This enabled me to render the data as visually-hidden HTML elements on the front end, vastly improving the site for any visually-impaired or non-sighted users.

- Project Type
- Website in progress
- Year
- 2024 - 2025
- Stack
- Astro, React components, Storybook for component development and testing, Netlify CMS
- Role
- Planner, Lead Developer
- Highlights
- This site has a really cool design with several challenging layouts, which is my favorite type of challenge to tackle. I'd love to show them off, but this project is unfortunately on hold, as much of the funding for the program came from USAID.
Accessibility is baked-in to my development process for everything I work on. That being said, these projects were particularly accessibility-focused.
